Counselling in Bristol

It is not always easy to reach out for support. If you have found your way here, something in you is already moving in the right direction. You do not need to have everything figured out before we speak.

People come to counselling for all kinds of reasons. Some arrive with a clear sense of what they want to work on. Others simply know that something is not right and they have not been able to shift it on their own. Both are completely fine starting points. I offer a warm, confidential space where we can slow things down, make sense of what is going on, and find a way forward that feels right for you.

I offer counselling in Bristol at The Practice Rooms, Queen Square, in the heart of the city. Sessions are also available online via Zoom, which works equally well for most people and means location does not have to be a barrier.

What we can work on together

People come to me with a wide range of personal challenges. There is no set list of what counselling is for. Some of the things I regularly work with include anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief, loss, stress, and major life changes. If you are not sure whether what you are dealing with fits, it almost certainly does. The starting point is simply talking.

I also have a particular depth of experience working with trauma and addiction. Over the years I have worked with many people carrying the effects of difficult past experiences, and I bring both professional training and lived experience to this area of work. If either of these feels relevant to you, you can read more on the trauma counselling or addiction counselling.

I am a BACP-registered and Relate-trained therapist. My approach is warm, direct, and shaped around what you actually need. I combine talking through what is going on with practical tools you can use between sessions, so the work does not stay confined to the therapy room.

What working together can look like over time

  • A growing sense of calm and emotional stability
  • Greater understanding of your own patterns and where they come from
  • Less anxiety, overwhelm, and reactivity in daily life
  • More confidence in yourself and your decisions
  • Stronger, more honest relationships
  • Freedom from patterns and behaviours that have kept you stuck
  • A clearer sense of who you are and what you actually want
  • A life that feels more like yours

In person in Bristol and online via Zoom

I see clients at The Practice Rooms, 55 Queen Square, Bristol BS1 4LH, a short walk from Bristol Temple Meads and easy to reach from across the city and surrounding areas. The space is calm and private, and sessions run for 50 minutes at a regular weekly or fortnightly time.

Online sessions via Zoom are equally available and work just as well for most people. Many clients prefer the flexibility of working from home, particularly in the early stages when coming to an unfamiliar place can feel like one step too many. If you are not based in Bristol at all, Zoom sessions are available to clients anywhere in the UK.
